Super Bowl XLVII
Super Bowl 47 kicks off at 6:30 pm EST on February 6, 2013. One of the most watched sporting events in America, it’s also one of the year’s hottest tickets.
Seeing the Game Live
Ticket packages can be purchased directly from the NFL. A limited number of tickets won’t be available until January 29, 2013 during the NFL’s second annual Media Day at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the home of Super Bowl XLVII. Tickets for Media Day: Fueled by Gatorade start from $25 and are sold through Ticketmaster. Fans who opt not to get tickets to the big game will still get a unique view of the making of the game and a bag of free goodies.
Fans who can’t get to the Superdome can watch the game live on CBS. This is the first time CBS is hosting the Super Bowl since 2010. Can’t be in the continent when the Super Bowl happens? Don’t despair. Football fans in countries other than Canada and America can take advantage of live streaming action on their Internet capable devices. Viewers must pay for a Game Pass subscription to access the game.
This Year’s Venue
New Orleans, the City of Second Chances, is the proud home of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Because the Super Bowl coincides with New Orleans’ infamous Mardi Gras, some Mardi Gras celebration timetables will be changed but not eliminated. There’s no way party-loving New Orleans is going to skip Mardi Gras, even for an event as huge as Super Bowl XLVII.
New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl ten times in its storied history, but this is the first time since the area suffered cataclysmic damage during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The Superdome can seat more than 76,000 screaming fans. CBS is planning many special television shows based in the French Quarter during the 2013 Super Bowl week.
Betting the Game
I’ve been watching the lines and have bets placed at a few different books. So far the best place for bets is BOVADA for a few reasons:
- The lines have been right on and have been the best so far.
- Live Betting – Lets you make new bets during the game with updated lines/odds
- Easy deposits – Credit Card accepted (there is a small transaction fee of 4.9% though)
- Fast and Free Easy withdrawals – Checks always (and I mean Always!) come from Bovada!
Super Bowl 47 Trivia
Pop superstar Beyonce has been chosen to perform at the halftime concert. This starts promptly at 8pm, barring any problems or unusual delays in the first half of the game. Beyonce will perform for 20 minutes. She’s keeping the details under wraps, but she will debut a brand new song during the set. Rumors are that Justin Timberlake will make a guest appearance because he has a notable spot in Beyonce’s new album.
Having a commercial air during the Super Bowl can make an obscure company famous, or a famous company infamous. CBS is charging an average of $2.65 million for 30 seconds of airtime. Major companies such as Pepsi and General Motors, which traditionally saved their year’s best ads for the big game, will not advertise this year. Ford has already completed its ad, which will star comedian and talk-show host Jimmy Fallon. Although 62 slots at a cool $2.65 million is a lot of cash, CBS announced that even if all of the spots sell, they still will not have enough money to cover production costs.
